  How would you describe yourself since leaving the borg?

  for me i found myself more involved politically and in community and business affairs.

  not as cynical as i once was and not as judgemental as when i was a jw.

  also more empathetic about people and finally able to see some beauty in the world.

  Happy, joyful, trusting, peaceful, serene, with a purpose, more respectful, more active in the community in a way that actually matters, remorsful, more friendly....

  no more PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, no longer controlling and self righteous,

  Much more capable of love. In fact, it has been 14 years since I was set free from the org, and I'm still learning how to love more deeply as I age. As a JW there really was NO real love. No unconditional all encompassing hold nothing back love, especially for a stranger.

  How do you feel about Tatoos?

  i feel very offended and distrurbed when i see people covered with tatoos.

  some people have tatoos all over their bodies, even on their faces.

  there are also tatoo programs on the tlc channel that children can watch without a forewarning before the show comes on.

  I feel hurt. I feel sorry for the person with the tatoos and for his family.

  Embrace humanity with all it's excitment and colors! People are beautiful and full of life.

  I have always flirted with the idea and should go ahead and do it. I want a horse probably on my shoulder. That way when I wear a black leather halter on the motorcyle everyone can enjoy it. Maybe like a black Fresian rearing up, they are the horses the knights rode with the beautiful full mane and leg feathers...or a delicate Arabian horse.

  oohh maybe a Fresian on one shoulder and an Arabian on the other!

  ...now where will I put the wild Mustang....

  I can't be proud of my kids!

  today i went to my daughter's school and they sang "america the beautiful" and i videoed her.

  i do have a question though!!

  how do most people explain to their children about why grandma and grandpa never come to their birthday party or any holiday function?

  Sorry for what you are going through. There is no normalcy within the ranks of Jehovah's Witnesses. I am all for telling children the truth that is age appropriate. Personally I feel that if the parents do believe in a Creator and wants to pass that information on to thier children, the most important aspect of His nature is love. God is love. Religion however is not always loving.

  I would never allow Jehovah's Witnesses to care for my children, family or not. The less the child is around them the better. They are toxic people in a toxic religion.

  i called the hospital a few minutes ago and sparky is currently in surgery.

  i am going to by on my way home from work and say hi.

  Maybe There's a Heaven...

  i don't often open up discussions on my beliefs or experiences in life, but i feel a need, so please excuse me if you feel it untoward.

  neither is this a poxy swan-song, i'm just opening up my heart a little.. today i had cause to reflect on a conversation i had with my [now ex-]wife shortly after my epithany.

  everything was so new and unknown.

  In my life experience it seems that we humans are prone to having a sense of pride. It is natural for us to want to critisize others, put them down in order to lift ourselves up.

  We also judge and ridicule. It comes naturally. The message of the Bible says that God is holy, loves us, and we are born in sin thus separated from Him, and there is nothing we can do to remedy that but to humbly accept what Jesus did for us.

  That automatically causes some to humbly ask for forgivness when we see the sin nature inside ourselves. Then the teachings of Jesus become clear. The fact that Jesus was holy, had no sin, but willingly suffered to pay the price for my sin, is humbling and makes one fall in love with Jesus.

  Mom Died -- and I found out from an old friend!

  ok, i'm writing this thru tears as i just found out in the last 5 minutes.

  my dad died in august, and they had been together just 1 or 2 weeks over 70 years married!

  i didn't expect her to last without him, and visa versa.. i just tried to call my sister, and no answer there.

  The dark side to their new personality

  the bible tells us to transform our personality so that we become better people and pleasant.

  so, as jw, we were all supposed to do that.. it's funny, but most jw's i know, also transformed their personality into something more hateful.. maybe they stopped doing bad things that were apparent, but they also started doing hateful things that they didn't do before such as shun people or ignore their own brothers and sisters who don't see exactly eye to eye with the org.

  as well as divide families, which they didn't do before becoming jw's.. i rather their old personality, before they became jw's.. .

  I still mourn for the lost opportunities I had for so many years to truly love and bond with people.

  There is no love in the Tower. Anyone who enters and was able to show love and bond with people, must forsake them all. A child is dispensable. A sister is deletable. How could any JW be all that they can be when they may be asked to forsake their own flesh and blood. Sacrifice of the human heart. "Numb your members" ..that includes your humanity.

  It becomes so logical, so normal after a time.

  I was dying in the hospital from surgical complications. Previous to this experience I had spent several years studying Greek and a little Hebrew. Untwisting what the Bible really had to say. But the Tower still owned my mind and held it captive until that night in the hospital. When I would stop breathing, I drifted off to a horrible place that I will never forget. I panicked and woke up gasping for breath. When the time came that would have been my last breath Jesus came to me in the Spirit. He lifted the veil the Watchtower had placed over my head. I received Him, believed Him, and gave Him the honor, glory and worship that He deserves. The next day my 6 day fever broke, a malfunctioning machine that was supposed to drain the contents of my stomache was discovered and replaced, my stomach was drained of gallons of blood and mucous that was drowning me, my paralized intestines woke up. I was alive like I had never been before. Now I know what I will see when my body dies. I have no doubts. When Jesus touches your life, you are changed.
